Required for indoor and outdoor.

This equipment is used by most people who are climbing indoors, however some people who are just bouldering do not use the harness or belaying device. Some climbing walls offer hire for equipment.

Optional for indoors. Required for outdoors.

This is equipment that is used outdoors by most people, except those who wish to solo climb. Many people also use this equipment on the indoor walls.

This is the equipment that will be required for most people who wish to climb outside.

A climbing specific helmet.
